If you're one of those front page burners who said "good, it deserved to be crushed" or something even close to that sort, turn in your car enthusiast card now.

"Well, Mister Stick-Up-His-Ass, what gives you the right to say that?"

Because, fuck you, you're a disgrace to car culture if you can't respect another person's work no matter if you agree with their style or not. If you want to rag of on someone's attempt to have a unique 458 after it gets hit, then you better be fucking ready to man the fuck up when someone crashes a lowrider into a classic Italian car and people start ragging how that "museum piece/garage queen was put out of its long suffering."

I just find it irritating that we complain about how car culture is a slowly dying breed and yet are more than ready to throw shit at a stance/donk/showcar/bromobile/etc just because we don't think it's cool to ourselves. News flash, spoiled fuckers, they didn't build it just for you. You'd better learn it's better to make friends in unusual places than to make enemies.

I agree we should never feel good about any fellow enthusiast's car getting hurt, especially one which obviously took so much work.

Personally though, SEMA embodies everything I view as wrong with the automotive enthusiast scene right now and most stancebros drive dangerous douche missiles that genuinely scare me to share the road with.

So i cant have an opinion? I love how people put work into their cars. But in my opinion that thing is hideous. Just my taste.

At the end of the day it sucks that dude bro in the jeep ran into him but IMO that 458 looks like shit.

Totally agree.

I don't like the extreme hellatoiletstanceyo but hey, it's their car. They can do whatever the hell they want to it. The same goes for anyone else.

Agree.

Disagree.

Agree.

SEMA is everything wrong with car culture these days, but not for the reason you cite. SEMA-goers and showers are no more related to stance-bros in MKv Jettas than the fine people at your local HPDE.

SEMA just happens to cater more to wild, nonfunctional creations than the opposite, but "stance" as we know it isn't particularly contaminated throughout.

It's okay to not like a car, but it's not cool to wish ill will upon someone else's ride they put work into be it working hard to outright afford it or build it.

You know what, I half agree with you. I'm not going to agree/disagree, but I will say that the guy who lost his shit is a a drama queen.

If you can afford a ferrari, and then you can afford to modify a ferrari, you can afford to fix a ferrari. Does it suck? Sure. I hate it when my car breaks, and comparatively, it's super cheap. No need to make a scene.

Guy's right up there with the "why did you turn" guy. Why are you even trying to put a car into a Uhaul anyway?

Yea i dont like seeing peoples rides destroyed by other idiots.

Now if i see a stance bros car try to go over a train track and rip the bumper off, then its funny cause he was asking for it by driving his car. (actually happened a few days ago as i watched)

Came to oppositelock to post the same thing basically. It makes me sad and angry that when a car some people find repulsive is destroyed, they get all giddy about it. Turn it around on them though, and they'll either say they would break some skulls open, or they come up with some lame excuse about how they wouldn't create such a horrendous vehicle, or they wouldn't care.

And Decay, I agree with your statement about SEMA. Something about that event has always struck me as arrogant and flamboyant. Not the kind of thing I'm interested in.

My dislike of SEMA is that it encourages a car culture totally focused on external gratification rather than internal satisfaction. It might just be me, but I don't sense any love in many SEMA builds like I do with actual car owner/enthusiasts and their rides. It's the automotive equivalent of trying to have more followers than everyone else on twitter.

Also I wasn't saying that SEMA is entirely made up of stance bros, I was trying to make two points

1. SEMA kinda displays a bunch of lifeless corpse builds

2. Stancebros scare me

Does it deserve to be crushed? No. Can it be repaired? Yes. Does it suck that car, or any car, was damaged in such a manner? Yes. Did anyone die? No.

Point I'm getting at is yes, it's a shame, but it can be repaired, no one was injured, life will go on.

I'm glad someone said it. I don't agree with stancing a Ferrari, but I can respect that that's his thing, and all the guys at LW seem to be awesome guys themselves. Look at it how they look at it and it's a pretty cool car.

It's okay if owners bring it upon themselves, it's not okay for others to damage other cars that aren't theirs.

Kinja'd!!!1

It's not the damage part, it's just the mentality of "oh, I don't like I so I'll wish ill will upon it" and followed by "I don't understand why car people can't get along."

Kinja'd!!! daender > JGrabowMSt

Damage is usually fixable, I'm more angry about people talking two-faced shit saying they want to see vehicles they don't like get damaged but will kill a person if someone crashed into their own ride.

I dunno. I mean I agree with the bit about not wanting to see somebody else's work crushed or destroyed, but I don't think I necessarily need to respect everything just because lots of time or money was spent on it. For example:

Kinja'd!!!

That is tasteless and atrocious, just like almost everything else Mansory builds. I guess what I respect about it is that they have what I call "fuck you money", or so much money that they can have something like that and not take it seriously at all. But while I respect that, I have zero respect for the cubic dollars that made that thing in the above photo, as fine as the craftsmanship may be.
